DMSO
Dimethyl sulfoxide, an organic solvent for hydrophobic peptides. DMSO can oxidise methionine and cysteine. How much an assay tolerates should be checked first.
In the lab
DMSO is hygroscopic and freezes at about 18 °C. DMSO stock solutions are sealed dry and stored in small portions.
