Molecular mass and dalton
The mass of a molecule, given in daltons (Da) or g/mol. It is calculated from the molecular formula and measured by mass spectrometry.
In the lab
For small peptides the monoisotopic mass is usually given, for larger ones often the average mass. The difference can be about one dalton.
