Molecular formula
The number of atoms of each element in a molecule, such as C62H98N16O22 for BPC-157. The calculated molecular mass follows from it.
In the lab
The molecular formula usually refers to the free form of the peptide. The salt supplied also contains the counterion and therefore has a higher mass.

- Amino acid analysisA method in which the peptide is fully hydrolysed and the individual amino acids are measured.
- Area percentThe unit of HPLC purity: the main peak's area divided by the area of all peaks.
- ChromatogramThe curve an HPLC run produces: detector signal over time.
- CounterionThe ion that balances the charge of a peptide salt, such as trifluoroacetate or acetate.
- DeamidationA degradation route in which asparagine or glutamine lose their amide group.
